London Press Conference For New Bond Film
EON Productions recently held a press conference in London to announce that filming on the 23rd installment in the James Bond franchise was underway with Oscar-winner Sam Mendes at the helm. The official titled was also confirmed as ‘Skyfall’.
Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson were at the conference and unveiled the logo, and were joined by some principal cast members which included Javier Bardem who plays the primary antagonist, as well as Bond himself Daniel Craig. Judi Dench, Naomi Harris and Bérénice Marlohe were also in attendance. ‘Skyfall’ will be shooting in London (largely in the Whitehall area) as well as Shanghai in China, Istanbul in Turkey, and Scotland. Other cast members confirmed were Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Albert Finney. Marlohe is the Bond girl, she plays a “glamours, enigmatic character” named ‘Severin’.
While Naomi Harris is said to be playing Bond gal Moneypenny, new reports say that at first she plays M16 field agent Eve, and over the course of the story her character moves into that role. While many have thought that the next Bond flick might carry across the ‘Quantum’ plot, that is not the case with confirmation the new film will be a standalone story. It also won’t be based on any remnant Ian Fleming novels or works by follow up authors, however producers declined to reveal other character names as it’s possible some fans might recognize them – suggesting that characters from the Flemming universe could be fair game.
‘Skyfall’ is bound to be an exceptional Bond flick, and with all the talent on board it’s defntely gong to be worth the wait.
