The first trailer is here for Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. The third entry in the franchise finds the zoo-friendly characters doing their best to find civilization once more, though somehow ending up in Europe and joining a traveling circus. It also seems to be a bit of genre mash with a spy thriller theme running through the story as well.
Similarly to the Cars sequel which took the familiar characters and put them in the hilarious new setting, it seems that a similar approach has been taken to show the characters in a new environment, rather than revisit previous themes which worked to the detriment of another CG animated flick, ‘Kung Fu Panda 2’. The Penguins who between films have had their own TV spin-off, are back as is Sacha Baron Cohen‘s King Julien XIII character.
Noah Baumbach (Fantastic Mr. Fox) wrote the third installment – but don’t expect this to be the last in the series with plans already underway to make a fourth that will see the characters finally make it home to New York.
The film features the vocal talents of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, and Frances McDormand.
