The first trailer for Jack the Giant Killer has been released starring Nicholas Hoult in a re-imagining of Jack and the Beanstalk. From director Bryan Singer, this fantasy flick tells the story of an ancient war that’s reignited when a farm boy ‘unknowingly opens a gate between the world of the humans and the world of the giants’. The script is by Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After).
Eleanor Tomlinson plays the princess who gets kidnapped by the giants, spurring Jack into action to rescue her which may also threaten the uneasy peace between humans and giants.
Singer’s approach to this classic tale looks very intriguing with sumptuous visuals and exciting action set pieces with Hoult continuing to do impressive work. Ewan McGregor plays the leader of the king’s guard, and Ian McShane plays King Brahmwell, the princess’ father who disapproves of his daughter’s poor choice in poor men. Stanley Tucci plays the villainous and scheming adviser to the king. Bill Nighy and John Kassir together play the two-headed leader of the giants.
Here’s the synopsis:
