Details have emerged regarding Ralph Fiennes role in the new James Bond flick, Skyfall. Back in February, director Sam Mendes said the role was “one of extreme complexity ” leading many to believe he would be playing iconic bad guy Blofeld.
Now Fiennes has given a hint to the Daily Record saying:
“I’m allowed to say that I’m a government agent.”
However Movieweb is reporting that an insider at EON Productions has let slip a few major spoilers regarding his character. In Skyfall a deadly threat from M’s past cause quite a bit of trouble, and reportedly this forces M (Judy Dench) to leave as head of MI6 – the report also claims that this is said to be Dench’s final 007 appearance. The reason why we haven’t got a name on Fiennes character is the board of MI6 turn to this ‘government agent’ to take over as M, with Dench having to train the new head of MI6.
Perhaps this is all part of a complex twist as it would be a waste of Fiennes’ talents – he and Javier Bardem were long time said to be playing villains – and what better way for an evil mastermind to take over the world than as the head of a British spy agency. Only time will tell and until a first trailer is released, all bets are off.
Watch a brief behind-the-scenes glimpse at filming with producer Michael G. Wilson providing a brief introduction.
The film stars Daniel Craig, Naomie Harris, Ben Chaplin, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Berenice Marlohe, Helen McCroy, Simon Russell Beale, Rhys Ifans, Helen McCrory and Albert Finney.
