A new trailer for Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers has been released that does a pretty fantastic job in ramping up interest in this superhero mash-up flick. Aside from Jeremy Renner‘s character of Hawkeye who was briefly glimpsed in Thor, all the main characters have been well established in their own flicks thanks to Marvel’s production juggernaut.
The trailer shows how the new team must work together to defeat a common foe, but they will also have to iron out some differences and overcome their disdain for each other’s personalities before that can happen. From the looks of it, Whedon has crafted a story full of conflict and intrigue offset by his trademark wit and snappy dialogue. The action doesn’t have the cinematic edge of say a Transformers flick, with Whedon’s TV eye said to be the film’s only shortcoming.
Nonetheless early screenings have been positive and Marvel is said to be very happy with how it’s turned out – so fans should be treated to an enjoyable collage of these larger than life characters in their first team-up outing.
The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgård, and Samuel L. Jackson.
