Marion Cotillard Debunks those Talia Al Ghul Rumours

There’s been plenty of speculation surrounding Marion Cotillard’s character in The Dark Knight Rises, with many under the impression that she’s playing Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of Liam Neeson’s character in Batman Begins. The story is known to include these characters and understandably over the last year, internet rumour has become rife.

There’s been a veil of secrecy surrounding Christopher Nolan‘s final instalment of his Batman trilogy, now speaking with The Hollywood Reporter – she’s lifting the lid. She claims that her character is not Talia, the vengeful daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul; despite pictures on set which showed her in strange garb and surrounded my armed men.  She says she’s only playing the role of Miranda Tate, an ecologically minded businesswoman who “is fascinated by Wayne Enterprises. They go through difficulties, and she wants to help provide the world clean energies. She’s a good guy.” But does she stay that way? “Yes,” she insists.

The actress began work on the highly anticipated film in June 2011, and while filming spanned many locations including included Los Angeles, New York and Pittsburgh, she added that her role was minimal, saying there were long gaps when she wasn’t needed: “It was a very, very small role.”

All will be revealed when The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th, 2012.
