The new Hannibal Lecter TV series is on the way over at NBC, now Lifetime is borrowing from the literature of Thomas Harris by developing a drama around the Clarice Starling character from The Silence of the Lambs.
Though still in the early stages, the new series would take place where Hannibal is now on the run, and Clarice has graduated from the FBI academy and is working on cases as well as learning to cope with the obstacles that come with the Fed lifestyle. It’s unlikely that the Hannibal character will feature, except probably in exposition, or when the show achieves enough popularity that the mythos can be incorporated to address the inevitable. MGM is producing Clarice – Lifetime Television is looking to incorporate more shows into their programming where strong female leads are at the core.
The Silence of the Lambs was published in 1988, the movie opened in 1991. For Jodie Foster it earned her an Academy Award for best actress, however she chose never to reprise her role.
