Adam Shankman’s upcoming movie musical Rock of Ages opens this week. 8 new clips were recently released that showcase the attention to detail the filmmakers have gone to in capturing the 80’s, from the distinctive hairstyles and lavish clothes to the incredible performances by the top cast. The film stars Julianne Hough as a small-town girl with big dreams who falls for a rock star (Tom Cruise). The film is packed with plenty of 80s songs from the likes of Journey, Foreigner, Styx, and REO Speedwagon, so this flick should be a rocking good time for all music fans.
Cruise transformed himself by donning tattoos which stretched from shoulder to shoulder, as well as wearing long black hair and goth style black nails.The actor also performs his own songs to play the eccentric rockstar named Stacee Jaxx.
Here’s the synopsis:
“Rock of Ages” tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock ‘n’ roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake, and more.
Joining in on the 80’s fun is Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand,Malin Akerman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Diego Boneta, Mary J. Blige, and Bryan Cranston.
