ALEX CROSS First Trailer Starring Tyler Perry and Matthew Fox

The first trailer for Alex Cross is here starring Tyler Perry in the titular role originated by Morgan Freeman in Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls. Former Lost star Matthew Fox has totally transformed himself, looking ridiculously toned and thin to play the serial killer/sadist, Picasso. For the most part, the flick looks pretty exciting, except the trailer gives away a lot of the plot, so hopefully there’s still some surprises to be had.

The film is directed by Rob Cohen who began the mega successful street racing franchise The Fast and the Furious, so it’s sure to have some well coordinated action. With the previous Cross films, Morgan Freeman crafted a wise and thoughtful detective – with Perry playing the younger version, he should be able to get his hands dirty and withstand a few car crashes without being slowed down too much. Summit is hoping that this new iteration of the Alex Cross flicks begins a new franchise, while Perry is a popular performer – many were expecting [hoping] that Luther and Prometheus star Idris Elba would be taking up the mantle, so we’ll have to wait and see how audiences respond to Perry’s new tough guy persona outside of his popular cross dressing Madea flicks.

The film also stars Rachel NicholsEdward BurnsJean Reno,Giancarlo Esposito, and John C. McGinley.

Alex Cross opens October 19th, 2012.
