For the last few weeks it was all the buzz that Emma Stone was in the running for a part in the new Spider-man Reboot, now Sony has confirmed that she has been signed though not as the character we expected.
It was assumed that she was in the running for the role of Mary Jane Watson partly because of her current red hair, and her character would not be the love interest of Peter Parker, instead Gwen Stacy would fill that void. Well things have changed considerably with Emma getting the role of Stacy which now beckons the question – who’s going to be Mary Jane?
Reports are that the reason for the change was due to the chemistry between the leads and director Marc Webb made this statement.
The chemistry between Andrew and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice. At the heart of the story of Peter Parker is not only the amazing Spider-Man, but also an ordinary teenager who is wondering what he has to do to get the girl. Andrew and Emma will bring everything audiences expect to these roles, but also make them their own. Much to my surprise, it was fun to find out that our choice for Gwen (Emma) is also a natural blonde
Emma started dying her hair when Superbad producer Judd Apatow suggested she go from blonde to red, and she hasn’t changed it since – now it seems she has the opportunity to go natural.
As for the role of Mary Jane the contenders still include Glee star Diana Aragon, however also in the running is the dazzling star from Alice in Wonderland Mia Wasikowska who turns 21 this month.
We’ll keep you informed of any future updates to the new Spider-man movie.
