Special FX Guru Phil Tippet gives an in depth sit down and talks candidly about his experiences in the visual effects industry from working with Steven Spielberg, to the movies which signaled the advent of digital film-making and the abandonment of traditional animation techniques of which he was regarded as something of a master.
His work ranges from the hard-core action flick Robocop and the use of go-motion to create the deadly ED-209 robot, to the Imperial Walkers and the Tauntaun featured in The Empire Strikes Back. Having been at the forefront of the transition to digital FX he quickly learnt to upgrade his skills and founded his own company the Tippet Studio, which now handles alot of the FX seen in today big flicks such as the animation of the werewolves in the recent blockbuster, Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
