The guy that many people would like to see as the next Superman, is now set to play opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the J. Edgar Hoover biopic. The film about the longest serving FBI director was originally set to be called Hoover but has since had it’s title changed to J. Edgar.

Armie Hammer made a big impact in The Social Network and stole many a scene with his performance as the Winklevoss Twins along with Josh Pence who had his face digitally masked. Whilst Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake are all the buzz for their work, some may have forgotten Armie Hammer‘s performance not to mention his memorable line:

I’m six-five, 220 pounds, and there are two of me.

Director Clint Eastwood recently cast the 24-year-old actor to play the lawyer-turned-FBI-official Clyde Tolson who was also rumored to be Hoover’s secret lover.  Though the two didn’t always share the same views on political tactics, they remained good friends and this will likely be much of films strength. Charlize Theron is also said to have been offered the part of Helen Gandy, who ended up working as Hoover‘s personal secretary for more than 54 years.

Filming begins early next year with Eastwood working from a screenplay penned by Dustin Lance Black. Imagine Entertainment and Malpaso Productions are co-producing for Warner Bros.
