Here’s an interview with the always unpredictable Russell Brand as part of the Press Junket for his upcoming Shakespearean flick The Tempest. He quickly becomes distracted by Steve ‘Frosty’ Weintraub‘s t-shirt, but eventually talks about his reasons for making the movie.
The actor has found a lot of success with his unique flair and projects are being developed that suit his comedic style. This is the case with the recent Warner Bros acquisition of the rights to the 70’s British TV comedy Rentaghost. The story follows the recently deceased Fred Mumford determined to be more productive as a corpse and starts up a temp agency for other ghosts.
The script for the Arthur remake was also written around Brand’s comedic style. He talks briefly about making that film and his encounters with the classic DeLorean from Back ToThe Future, Val Kilmer‘s Bat-mobile and George Clooney‘s Bat-suit.
Also featured is Brand improvising a five-minute long back story for his Shakespearean character, the jester Trinculo, during a rehearsal for The Tempset with director Julie Taymor and co-star Alfred Molina. It’s all unscripted and off the wall, fans of Russell will certainly appreciate his ability to keep in the moment and capture the spark of his character.
