Rumors still surround the split between Dexter co-stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter who married in December 2008 and recently filed for divorce having been separated since August 9th. Gossip claims that this season’s co-star Julia Stiles was somehow involved in the couple’s break up but recently she told US magazine:
I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer. We are good friends and enjoyed working together. This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy…. Although I, too, prefer to keep my private life private — I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter.
On set it was easy to notice their chemistry was so crazy that writers and producers cranked up their romance to capture it.
At a recent Halloween party in New York hosted by a famous writer, many observed that the two stars were very close.
Lainey Gossip writes:
They were together, very close… and those who observed them that night are not surprised now that he’s ended it with his wife.
That’s showbiz for you and gossip that shouldn’t affect our enjoyment of the show, which was still a pretty cool season that recently got a renewal for season 6.
The series will be getting a new showrunner with Dexter executive producer Scott Buck replacing Chip Johannessen who joined the show this year. Response to this season’s run by critics and fans have been lukewarm, despite good ratings it’s shift in tone was in part due to Johannessen taking over the reigns from Clyde Phillips, who left the show at a pretty big turning point last season. Scott Buck has been working on Dexter since its second season and recently as Johannessen’s number two, so he’s a guy who knows the material well and should be able to help return it to it’s former glory.
For now if you didn’t get a chance to see the video after the finale here’s Julia Stiles talking about the season, her character and how she hoped things would turn out.
It’s interesting stuff for Dexter fans, (spoiler alert) check it out here:
