Thanks to Blastr, here’s the first look at the concept images from Syfy‘s upcoming Battlestar Galactica spin-off show, Blood and Chrome. The two hour pilot is a prequel story that takes place between the events of Caprica and BSG and focuses on the adventures of William Adama as a young ace pilot in the Colonial Fleet during the 10th year of the first Cylon war.
In March, Syfy was looking to extend the life of its Battlestar Galactica franchise after Caprica‘s days became numbered and by October the decision was made to produce the new pilot. Whilst Caprica was a bold attempt to trace the origins of the series it lacked the very thing that made the original reboot series so popular – space dogfight sequences and loads of cylons intimidating humans, so the hope is that Blood and Chrome will rectify this.
Below are the concept images which represent the key moments in scenes for art direction purposes. They offer an interesting glimpse into what is being planned by executive producer David Eick who’s referred to it as an ‘authentic, relentless depiction of combat and the agony and ecstasy of human-Cylon war, which was the hallmark of Battlestar Galactica’s early seasons.‘
