Battle: Los Angeles – Trailer #3

battle_la_new_trailer_3

Here’s the new trailer for the much anticipated Battle: Los Angeles and whilst the first and second were pretty impressive, this one will surely knock your socks off. It features the cutting edge visuals that you’ve come to expect from an alien invasion genre flick of this scale, but this new promo combines both spectacle and the human factor which was less the focus in the previous teasers.

Whilst the film ‘Skyline’ had good FX, the story fell short of complex storytelling and omitted major character arcs. Battle: Los Angeles shows us that the filmmakers seem to have found a balance between the narrative, good performances and a clever premise backed up by eye popping visuals.

We see more of Marine staff sergeant Aaron Eckhart going about his daily routine until the strange “meteors” start arriving. As the events unfold, a greater sense of anxiety and realization of their impending fate resonates with him and the other characters. As the attacks continue all over the planet, a platoon of Marines fight for survival as the aliens emerge unexpectedly to the horror of those nearby.

This film looks like it should be really entertaining so check out the new trailer and see what you think.

Battle: Los Angeles explodes into cinemas March 11, 2011.

Hey there, he’s saying – “I gotta be parallel to the deck – [inflection] what’s the whole thing with these bars? [referring to his stripes]”

Thank you very much for such an accurate and fast reply.
My English is not that good to understand such a phrase. Thanks to you I now know the answer.

At first I thought he said “paroled to the deck”, as if referring to his house and meaning his wife remains in charge, while he is away.

And the second part was incredibly distorted by my ears.
I thought he said “’cause I’m working with these barras” (or badass).

Since she said “Ok” I though there was some instruction done by a husband.

Thank you very much for help. I was asking, as I had an intention to translate the trailer.

If you could be so kind to give one more hint.
What should “parallel to the deck” mean – is he saying he is going to take a nap, or be sleeping all day (as to calm his wife)?

This was the hardest part as I had completely no clue what was meant in this phrase and how to translate that.

Once again, thank you for your time.

Watching the scene again, i heard the part much clearer –
he’s referring to his uniform saying ” THEY BETTER BE PARALLEL TO THE DECK, THAT’S THE WHOLE THING WITH THESE BARS – the term ‘parallel to the deck’ is used to describe the placement of ribbons/emblems on the uniform.
          Hope that helps,
          Stu

Incredible. Thank you. With your help I do now hear “BE PARALLEL TO THE DECK”

Stu, this is wonderful. Thank you for your kind clarification of the terms and your sharp ears.

Good luck to you and your website.

May the Force be with you. 🙂
    Alex
