T-Bag Breaks Out Of Prison

Robert Knepper is reprising his character of T-Bag in something of a TV cross-over to help kick-off a new show about convicts breaking out of prison. Breakout Kings is created by Nick Santora and Prison Break‘s Matt Olmstead, and the story focuses on a squad of U.S. Marshals who make deals with a group of prisoners who have had success breaking out of jails. If they assist the Marshals to capture the group of convicts on the run, their sentences will be reduced and they will serve the remainder of their time in minimum security prisons. However if they also make a run and are recaptured, their sentences will be doubled. Sounds somewhat far-fetched, but no stranger than ‘The Dirty Dozen’ where an elite group of marines would’ve likely sufficed.

TBAG_PRISON_BREAKWith the writers of ‘Prison Break’ involved, the show may capture the tension of it’s predecessor which unfortunately made too many story compromises and lost it’s direction. However T-Bag was one of the more interesting characters, and the first season the most adrenalin charged. With the inclusion of Robert Knepper’s character in ‘Breakout Kings’ for at least one episode, audiences have an idea of what to expect.

The show was originally developed for Fox, who later passed on the pilot and it was subsequently sold to the A&E network which picked it up for a 13 episode season.

It stars Jason Cerbone, Domenick Lombardozzi, Laz Alonzo, Malcolm Goodwin, and Nicole Steinwedell.

The pilot episode is scheduled to air March 6, 2011 at 10 p.m.
