Hailee Steinfeld’s Memories To Be ‘Forgotten’

hailee-steinfeldWhile Hailee Steinfeld’s show stopping performance as Mattie Ross in Joel and Ethan Coen’s True Grit earned her a Best Supporting Oscar nod, the star’s talent’s are in high regard over at Paramount who are currently crafting a new project around her called Forgotten.

The novel by Cat Patrick is being published in June so this is a vehicle to take full advantage of her star power and current age. Paramount has obtained the screen rights to ‘Forgotten’, which will be produced by Fake Empire’s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.

Steinfeld will play the character of 16-year old London Lane, who at 4:33 every night has her memory erased. All she can remember the next day is events from her future. Though when she meets a new boy at the school, she becomes frustrated that she can’t find him in her memories of future wants and hopes.

forgottenThe concept sounds like it’s bordering on sci-fi with themes similar to a Philip K.Dick novel, nonetheless a cool story that will definitely take advantage of her range and while little is known about the yet to be published novel, sounds like Paramount has their fingers on the pulse.

Despite the fact that Melissa Leo won the recent SAG award for her part in ‘The Fighter‘, her performance was not nearly as memorable or defining as young Hailee’s. Her nomination in this category instead of best actress could be an indicator, as she occupied the most screen time compared to screen legend Jeff Bridges, she might just be the wild card at this year’s Oscars.

Paramount knows a star when they see one,  and ‘Forgotten’ is quickly being assembled for the actress who will certainly have many leading movie roles for some time to come.
