Comedian and mega talented Ricky Gervais is once again returning to NBC‘s The Office and this time he could be bringing Steve Carell‘s successor with him. His U.K character Michael Brent rubbed shoulders with Carrells’ Michael Scott outside the elevator in the 14th episode this season. His return for another guest spot will likely build on their previous meeting.
With Michael Scott’s departure imminent (his final episode airs April 27th) and four episodes in the season left wide-open, producers are looking to fill the gaps. Will Ferrell is coming aboard as part of Carell’s send-off for a multi-episode arc, his guest stint begins April 14th.

As for the new Sabre-Scranton Office Manger for next season, comedy genius Will Arnett could be the man. While his recent show ‘Running Wilde’ bit the dust, his comic talents are on a par with the other high caliber performers and his zany antics could just be the right fit for ‘The Office’ which was recently renewed for an eighth season.
Show creator Gervais offered some insight into the direction next season might take, writing on his blog in February about a meeting he had with NBC and his recommendations:
Had a little meeting with NBC about various things and recommended Will Arnett for a regular in The Office. Thoughts? I think he’s amazing.
So what can we expect? The final episodes will certainly set up the events for season 8 – we’ll have to tune in to see how the comedy unfolds.
The one-hour finale airs May 19.
