From Sony Pictures Entertainment, here’s the first teaser for the new flick Anonymous starring Rhys Ifans who’s in the upcoming ‘The Amazing Spider-man’. Set in Elizabethan England, the story focuses on the long-rumored suspicion that the plays of William Shakespeare were actually penned by Edward De Vere, the Earl of Oxford. This speculation has long fascinated and intrigued literary scholars and academics ranging from the likes of Mark Twain and Charles Dickens to Henry James and Sigmund Freud. The flick poses the question with plenty of cloak-and-dagger political intrigue, illicit romances and the power hungry Nobles who would use the London stage for their own purposes.
Directed by Roland Emmerich, this new flick looks to be something of a departure from his usual apocalyptic disaster movies, and the teaser shows off some enticing visuals that vividly capture the landscapes and towns of that period. While his films usually only pander to action, this could be a bold attempt to deal with a subject matter that might just get a few tongues wagging.
