The newest trailer is here for A Good Day to Die Hard, the latest instalment of the Die Hard franchise. What could be seen as good news is that the new film won’t be getting a PG-13 rating, so we can expect plenty of profanity and some extreme violence, albeit CGI enhanced.
That said it’s hard to know whether or not to be truly excited for this new film, with most of the originals’ core themes more or less abandoned after Die Hard 2. Trying to imagine John McClane in Mother Russia and running into his now adult son who’s also a bad-ass cop, seems a bit of a stretch – that said this new trailer introduces us to the newest member of the McClane family, played by Jai Courtney.
Surprisingly, this new trailer is very entertaining, and Jai Courtney seems quite appealing as the newest addition to the McClane family after Mary Elizabeth Winstead was introduced to us as the now grown-up Lucy McClane in the disappointing, over-the-top fourth instalment.
Here’s the synopsis:
Iconoclastic, take-no-prisoners cop John McClane, for the first time, finds himself on foreign soil after traveling to Moscow to help his wayward son Jack–unaware that Jack is really a highly-trained CIA operative out to stop a nuclear weapons heist. With the Russian underworld in pursuit, and battling a countdown to war, the two McClanes discover that their opposing methods make them unstoppable heroes.
A Good Day to Die Hard opens February 14, 2013.
