ACT OF VALOR Director To Adapt NEED FOR SPEED

The popular Need for Speed game series is making the move to the big screen. Dreamworks and Electronic Arts have joined forces to adapt the long running street racing game from a pitch by Real Steel screenwriter John Gatins, in conjunction with his brother George who’s developing the script.

Variety reports that Act of Valor director Scott Waugh is in talks to direct the flick that would be in the same vein as the Fast and Furious franchise. If anyone has played the classic game Need for Speed Carbon, one would know there’s some memorable cut-scenes that could be the basis for a bigger story involving the likes of rival street racing crews.  Act of Valor had many people calling it a film version of Call of Duty, so Waugh seems to be an appropriate choice to adapt the video game series.  Waugh is also attached to direct The Unknown Soldier starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
