It seems that director Christopher Nolan is reuniting his cast from his flick ‘Inception’ for the rumored last installment of the Batman series. Marion Cotillard who played Leo Dicaprio’s suicidal wife to great effect in the mind bender, is said to be in talks to join the film along with previously announced Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The actress who’s currently expecting her first child with her partner Guillaume Canet, is likely only to make one film this year and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ will be it. She recently backed out of David Cronenberg’s new flick ‘Cosmopolis’, supposedly due to scheduling but it’s thought her pregnancy was the reason and that she has a desire to collaborate with mastermind Nolan for another outing.
The report comes from France’s oldest and second largest newspaper, Le Figaro that claims the deal is official and recently Cotillard’s reps confirmed that the actress was in talks to sign on, so it looks like it’s a done deal.
Cotillard is due in the spring, so the plan is to join the production in mid-June in London, then shoot in L.A and Pittsburgh, and wrap production in mid-November in New York.
With Anne Hathaway cast as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, it’s thought that Cotillard will be playing Thalia Al Ghul, the daughter of the villain played by Liam Neeson in ‘Batman Begins’. This would complicate matters as both characters play as love interests and villains, so things will definitely get tricky for Bruce Wayne.
Marion Cotillard is a radiant performer and her addition to the new film is great news for fans.
The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release July 20th, 2012.
