Arnold Schwarzenegger’s has signed on to reprise the role of Conan in Universal’s upcoming reboot, The Legend of Conan. The studio hopes to have the new flick ready for the summer of 2014. Universal’s writer and producer,Chris Morgan who wrote the screenplay for The Fast and the Furious 6, developed the story for this Conan reboot, and is expected write the script.
The story for The Legend of Conan will be an offshoot of the original, skipping over the sequel and will not make any reference to the poorly received 2011 reboot which starred Jason Momoa.
Schwarzenegger is currently playing John “Breacher” Wharton, a hardened commander of an elite squad in David Ayer’s new film, Ten. He recently tweeted this pic of himself on set – armed to the teeth, sporting a new haircut and a variety of tattoos.
As for stepping back into the role which secured his stardom, Scharzenegger was quoted as saying:
I always loved the Conan character and I’m honored to be asked to step into the role once again. I can’t wait to work with Universal and the great team of Fredrik Malmberg and Chris Morgan to develop the next step of this truly epic story.
