If you’ve seen Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan then watching this FX featurette should be fun, if you haven’t then it’s full of visual spoilers. It’s a visual FX breakdown showing the various layers that went into making the shots, from the initial background plates to the multiple takes required for compositing and the impressive CG additions.
The film had some really clever visuals that aided Natalie Portman‘s character transformation rather than being distracting and intrusive. Watching the first half of the movie, the FX were barely noticeable – such as the reflections in the dance hall mirrors which were digitally altered to remove crew and another elements.
It’s a great video that lets you appreciate the effort that went into achieving the visuals that helped complete the story of Black Swan.
