In early January word spread that the script to the untitled Alien Prequel was being revised to expand the role of ‘Vickers’ in order to entice Charlize Theron. Now it seems that she liked what she read and has officially inked a deal to star in ‘Prometheus’ for Twentieth Century Fox. She joins previously announced cast members Noomi Rapace who’s playing the main character ‘Elizabeth Shaw’, and Michael Fassbender in the role of an Android.
The project was originally devised as prequel to Alien and the rewrite by Lost alum Damon Lindelof saw the project evolve into something more original, and it was renamed ‘Prometheus’ in mid January.
The story is said to contain ‘strands of Alien DNA’ which is rumored to be dug up during an archeological dig, along with the co-ordinates to the Alien home-world. The title is also said to refer to the name of the spacecraft and the new Aliens that feature ‘will be big’.
Charlize Theron is a great actress and her on screen presence and beauty is making Ridley Scott’s next movie sound even more enticing. Looks like in space people can hear the screams of excitement this new film is generating.
Prometheus is set to open June 3rd, 2012.

Casting on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus seems to be moving right along. After mulling over the part for a while now, Variety reports that Charlize Theron has officially joined the cast as the character “Vickers”. What was previously developed as a prequel to Alien, Prometheus is a wholly original film from a script by Damon Lindelof (Star Trek, Lost). Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is set to headline the film, with Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class) starring as well. Plot details are sparse but Scott maintains that keen fans will spot “Alien DNA” in the film. Prometheus is slated for June 3rd, 2012.
