With Cowboys & Aliens only weeks away from opening, Universal has released some new scenes and a featurette as part of the lead up. We can see that the filmmakers have pushed the limits to be faithful to the original premise, and have brought rich detail to this audacious concept.
The clips show that the movie plays like a traditional western that just happens to be in the midst of some unknown alien incursion, and what makes this look flick look cool is that from a time perspective – it’s already happened, so it will be interesting to see how much of history plays a hand in the events of the story. Director Jon Favreau has proved his ability in balancing aspects of both story and action, so this should make for an enjoyable piece of escapist fare. Check out the fresh scenes plus meet the stars and the filmmakers who give a bit of insight into how the film took shape.
Heres the synopsis:
1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. It’s a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With thehelp of the elusive traveler Ella, he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents – townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors – all in danger of annihilation.
