The first trailer is here for The Place Beyond the Pines, from director Derek Cianfrance. The film is said to be an “epic family saga” that tells the tale of two fathers from decidedly different walks of life. Luke (Ryan Gosling), is a stunt cyclist and ex-convict who starts robbing banks to support his infant son in the hopes of patching things up with the mother of his child, Rosina (Eva Mendes). Then there’s Avery (Bradley Cooper), an ambitious rookie cop who becomes something of a local hero while investigating the robberies, only to find himself in the midst of police corruption. Chronicle star Dane DeHaan also figures into the midst of things, playing an aloof teenager searching for the truth about his deceased father.
This flick is so far garnering great reviews for it’s tale of unintended family legacies, and the struggle to break free from the events that seemingly control our lives.
The film also stars Eva Mendes, Ben Mendelsohn, Rose Byrne and Ray Liotta.
The Place Beyond the Pines opens March 29, 2013.
