G.I. JOE: RETALIATION Delayed Until 2013 for 3D Conversion

In a shock move, Paramount has made a last-minute decision and delayed the release of Jon M. Chu‘s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, pushing the film back all the way to March 29th of 2013. The reason for this is to do a “conscientious 3D” post-conversion.

The film was set to open June 29th, now fans will have to wait another nine months. Originally the film was meant to be shot in 3D, at least that was the reason why director Jon M. Chu‘s was brought in having made the Justin Bieber doco flick Never Say Never using the same format.

Some post conversions are atrocious while others like Titanic remastered do mega business, that said the extra charge for admission also increases the global box-office tally. Nine months does however seem like a long time to convert a movie to 3D,  and it makes one wonder if re-shoots are also being considered.
