A new trailer has been released for Paramount’s rebooted sequel franchise G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which hopes to improve upon the more cheesy aspects of the first, which had many fans of G.I.Joe cringing. In the new trailers we’re offered a closer look at the story which showcases some cool action and plenty of CGI destruction.
While the first G.I. Joe movie was fun, this one aims to be pay better homage to the mythos with the casting of big guns Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, and Bruce Willis as the original Joe.
Dwayne Johnson was recently interviewed and talked about how he was approached to play Roadblock, as well as the the tone which director Jon M. Chu was looking to achieve with the G.I. Joe sequel.
I trained my ass off for this role, wanted to become Roadblock, wanted to pay homage to the mythology of G.I. Joe, and not only that but then pay honor and respect to our military in a real way where it’s gritty and rooted and grounded and boots to the ground, and we’re not shootin’ off lasers and shit; these are real rounds.
The film also stars Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona.
