The first trailer is here for the crime drama Lawless, starring Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy as as a pair of bootlegging brothers in the Prohibition-Era South. The flick is based on the Matt Bondouran novel The Wettest County in the World, inspired by true-life tales from the author’s family, who were put to the test during the great depression and the ensuing crime waves.
Incidentally Terrence Malick was planning a film named “Lawless”, but he graciously gave up the title as he was a fan of director John Hillcoat. The trailer has plenty of intense moments and frequently shows off it’s talented cast of actors which includes Mia Wasikowska, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Dane DeHaan, and Jessica Chastain.
Here’s the synopsis:
LAWLESS is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County in the World”, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.
