Here’s a new featurette for Matt Damon’s upcoming Sci-Fi / thriller The Adjustment Bureau based on the short story by Philip K. Dick. It’s written and directed by George Nolfi who also wrote ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’ and the film’s shot in and around Manhattan.
The story focuses on a mysterious team of adjusters who seek to prevent the forbidden relationship between the charismatic United States Congressman David Norris (Damon) and a mysterious ballet dancer, Elise Sellas (Emily Blunt). Norris discovers that there are forces working to keep them apart and he slowly starts to unravel the reasons why.
It’s a story that looks like a more expensive episode of ‘Fringe’ and these genre flicks always prompt the question ‘Am I doing the right thing, is this meant to be?’
As it happens causality is one of the defining elements of Sci-Fi that alludes to a grand design, in the film the adjustment bureau attempt to control this whilst elusive and unseen they chart the points at which people’s lives intersect.
The release date was pushed back from September 17th last year to March 4th so we’ll have to wait a little bit longer. The film also stars Oscar-nominee Terence Stamp, John Slattery (Mad Men), and Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker).
