Meet Hansel & Gretel

The first image from Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters has been released via EW showing Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as grown-up versions of the famous siblings. From Paramount Pictures this $60 million Brothers Grimm tale was shot in 3D on location in Germany, and is directed by Tommy Wirkola who made the Nazi zombie exploitation flick, ‘Dead Snow’. Expect some gory,  supernatural action with this bad-ass duo killing witches while wearing some cool period-style leather outfits each armed with ye olde shotguns.

The plot sees Hansel and Gretel playing highly-efficient bounty hunters who specialize in hunting down and executing witches, sorceresses, and other supernatural bad guys.

In her  interview with EW, star Arterton describes the film as gory retelling that could be quite hip, saying it’s:

…very, very dark, and bloodthirsty and there’s a lot of cursing. It’s kind of got a [Quentin] Tarantino feel, really.

Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters opens 2D and 3D March 2nd, 2012.
