During the end credits of Fast Five, Michelle Rodriguez featured in such a way which suggested that her character did not die as thought in the fourth flick, and was very much in the land of the living. Now it’s confirmed that she is indeed returning for the sixth installment in the Fast and the Furious franchise. Production is set to begin this June in Europe. Haywire action star Gina Carano is also joining the cast so expect some bad-ass roundhouse kicks to level the macho playing field.
At one stage Jason Statham was looking to join the flick, though passed on the role as he was unable to reach a deal with Universal. That opportunity now may have fallen to Luke Evans who could be playing the film’s villain. Pop star Rihanna who made her film debut in the somewhat unnecessary blockbuster Battleship, may also be playing a villainous role.
Before starting work on Fast and the Furious 6, Michelle Rodriguez will first be reprising her role as Luz, in Robert Rodriguez’s sequel Machete Kills. She’ll be joining Mel Gibson who recently signed on for the movie playing “Luther Voz, a cunning arms dealer and death merchant who aims to spread war across the planet by launching a missile.”
Parts 6 & 7 of the franchise were intially going to be shot simultaneously, though that plan was abandoned for logistical reasons.
The Fast and the Furious 6 also stars Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster and Vin Diesel.
