The new trailer for Iron Man 3 is here and we can see that the third instalment is going for a much darker tone and hopefully less overblown than the second outing. The visuals are of course top notch, and the action looks incredible. With the inclusion of a few more traditional bad guys, there’s bound to be plenty of twists and turns along the way.
Iron Man 3 writer-director Shane Black has incorporated comic book writer Warren Ellis‘s ‘Extremis’ story arc, which sees geneticist Dr. Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) develop the Extremis nano-virus with Maya Hansen (Rebecca Hall) that changes the DNA of it’s subjects, giving them super human strength. We’re yet to find out if this genetically altered army of will be on the side of good or evil. Don Cheadle plays Rhodey once again though this time he transitions from War Machine to the Iron Patriot in order to better serve his country, especially after the president’s plane get’s attacked mid flight. The Mandarin played by Ben Kingsley, is focused solely on destroying his nemesis Iron Man, and if true to his comic book character, he will have considerable powers derived from alien technology, perhaps in this case left behind from the carnage we saw in The Avengers.
Here’s the synopsis:
Marvel’s “Iron Man 3″ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
