There’s little to be said about Star Wars that fans don’t already know, however it’s always cool to visit the way things were in a time long since past in this making of video that’s from an original ‘video tape’ you might have seen before.
The introduction of the featurette documents the moment on August 3rd 1977 when C-3PO, R2-D2 and Darth Vader arrived at Mann’s Chinese Theatre where 8,000 people had gathered to witness the intergalactic icons immortalized by placing their feet into wet cement, a long held tradition at the Chinese.
The Theatre was the beginning of the film’s success story premiering on May 25th 1977 and quickly became a runaway hit grossing $19,358 on the opening day (with an average ticket cost of $3.74) and $672,552 in its first month at the Chinese.
The making of is hosted by C-3PO and R2D2 and takes viewers through some of the behind-the-scenes technical difficulties and the fan phenomena that arose after the film’s release.
