Here’s the new trailer for Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides minus the likes of Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom. Let’s face it – their storyline got somewhat depressing and things seemed to improve when Captain Jack Sparrow left them all behind and set sail by himself, except that’s where the third movie ended.
Penélope Cruz shows up as Johnny Depp‘s old flame and brings some swashbuckling romantic tension to the mix. Focusing on the search for the Fountain of Youth – or in our case a good work out minus the trans fats – the story is based on a book that Disney bought the rights to and had it crafted to fit into the ‘Pirates’ universe.
Also starring the irrepressible Ian McShane as Blackbeard, it’s unlikely we’ll get to see him utter those profanity’s he dispensed so freely on TV’s ‘Deadwood’, but he’s sure to be a memorable bad guy coupled with those deadpan expressions.
Directed by ‘Chicago’ helmer Rob Marshall, the trailer looks like it’s has put the charm back into a franchise that kind of ran out of steam after the second flick.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opens in 3D on May 20th, 2011.
