Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth Battle Charlize Theron
The first trailer has been released for Snow White and the Huntsman starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron. Directed by Rupert Sanders, the flick is a dark and gritty interpretation of the classic fairy tale where Snow White learns how to become a warrior to take on the Evil Queen. When the Huntsman is sent to kill Snow White, he ends up falling for her charms and helps train her in the art of war.
The trailer looks very cool, and offers an interesting twist on the familiar story – there’s some impressive visuals and some cool morphing that gives physical form to the ‘mirror, mirror’ which eerily tells the queen that she will no longer be ‘the fairest of them all’. While some flicks which skew fairy-tales towards darker themes don’t always work, this re-imagining of ‘Snow White’ could be the exception with it’s elaborate production design and stellar cast.
Here’s the synopsis:
In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.
Snow White and the Huntsman opens June 2, 2012.
