Acting legends Martin Sheen and Sally Field are in final negotiations to play the aunt and uncle of Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-man reboot. The deals are said to be in the early stages but most reports indicate that the two former powerhouse actors are set to play Uncle Ben and Aunt May respectively.
The other big news is that insiders close to production now reveal that the screenplay by James Vanderbilt does not feature the Mary Jane character despite earlier reports that a love triangle would exist. Gwen Stacy however was Peter’s first love in the original comic books and before Emma Stone was cast, gossip had her in the running for the role of MJ, not only for her acting prowess but also because of her red locks. Though as we learned the actress started dying her hair when Superbad producer Judd Apatow suggested she make the change.
This now means that the rumored contenders for the role of MJ such as Diana Aragon or Mia Wasikowska are likely out of the running and were contenders for the character of Gwen Stacey all along.
We’ll keep you informed of any further Spidey updates.
