The first trailer has been released for Sacha Baron Cohen‘s new comedy The Dictator. Here the comedian plays a despot who “risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.”
This time around it’s a scripted comedy rather than the faux style documentary used in his character flicks Brüno and Borat. It’s full of Cohen’s witty off beat moments and what’s interesting are his observations of society, including views on racism or predigism – usually by way of how other people react to his characters.
Watching the trailer for The Dictator it’s apparent that he’s once again aiming to change our perception of people – especially tyrannical leaders who seemingly loath the west but soon become intoxicated by all of it’s trappings, not to mention Megan Fox.
The film also stars Anna Faris, Ben Kingsley, J.B. Smoove, and John C. Reilly.
The Dictator opens May 11, 2012.
