The first trailer for what looks to be a riotous comedy starring Steve Carell and Jim Carrey is here. Directed by Don Scardino, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone tells the story of two Vegas magicians who began as childhood friends, but after decades of working together with only one in the limelight, their friendship soon starts to take an inevitable turn for the worse. Things aren’t made any better when their act is upstaged by a Criss Angel like illusionist played with appropriate flair by Jim Carrey. Steve Buscemi plays Carell’s long time fiend, and Alan Arkin also appears as an elderly magician who served as the inspiration for Burt’s career.
Here’s the synopsis:
Superstar magicians Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carell) and Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi) have ruled the Las Vegas strip for years, raking in millions with illusions as big as Burt’s growing ego. But lately the duo’s greatest deception is their public friendship, while secretly they’ve grown to loathe each other. Facing cutthroat competition from guerilla street magician Steve Gray (Jim Carrey), whose cult following surges with each outrageous stunt, even their show looks stale. But there’s still a chance Burt and Anton can save the act—both onstage and off—if Burt can get back in touch with what made him love magic in the first place.
The flick also stars Olivia Wilde, James Gandolfini, and Jay Mohr.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone opens March 15, 2013.
