The first trailer for director Barry Levinson’s found footage horror film The Bay has been released. The story takes place in the small Chesapeake Bay town and the strange events that lead to a viral infection within the town’s water supply. From various points of view, we see how tiny parasites start to invade people bodies and then grow larger, consuming their host’s body and mind.
There’s some cool scares in the trailer, and even though the genre is becoming over saturated – when it’s done well the format can offer some genuine frights over traditionally filmed horrors. The Bay looks to be a huge departure for the director who won an Oscar for his work on 1988′s Rain Man, though working with the producers of the Paranormal Activity flicks Oren Peli, Jason Blum, and Steve Schneider – he’s working with a well expereinced team who know how make these type of stories play-out so realistically.
The film stars Will Rogers and Christopher Denham.
