The Green Lantern opens this July and is one of the year’s more highly anticipated movies, however since the film began production it has been drawing plenty of criticism ranging from the use of a digital suit, to the tone of the flick and the outlandish visuals. Now with the release of four minutes of footage recently screened at CinemaCon and WonderCon, all of those concerns are being put to to rest.
The imagery of the different world looks vivid and well designed, and while totally fantastic, it’s comedic edge and visual style confirms this new flick has come together well. Those who were in attendance at the presentations at CinemaCon were very impressed with what they saw and while the initial trailer looked somewhat rushed, the new footage shows that in the time since, the FX revisions have worked to the film’s benefit.
The Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Jay O. Sanders, Temuera Morrison, Taika Waititi, Jon Tenney, Angela Bassett, and Tim Robbins.
Directed by Martin Campbell, the DC Comics adaptation is set for release June 17, 2011.
