For some time fans have been aware that the original lizard queen was set to return to the revamped show, now we have one of the first set photos and and the latest story gos. Jane Badler played Diana on NBC’s original V from 1983-85, and whilst she’s been doing the rounds on the woeful aussie soap opera Neighbours, she’s returned to the states for her new role in the TV reboot which is shot in Vancouver, British Columbia. When she was interviewed by TV Guide’s William Keck she spoke of how she got the new role.
From the moment I heard V was coming back, it was something I was hoping to be part of, but they tested a lot of people for this role….A lot of years have passed, so it feels good to win something.
Her role will be a new take on her original part as she’ll be playing the mother to Anna (Morena Baccarin) who epitomizes many facets of Jane’s original character who became one of the 80’s most memorable sci-fi villains. Executive producer Scott Peters has also hinted that other stars from the original version may be offered guest roles as new characters in the future.
When V returns later this year the story will see the new Diana imprisoned on the mother ship in a cell designed to look like the reptilian visitors’ home planet. It turns out that she was imprisoned there by none other than her scheming and manipulative daughter Anna.
I’m still the way I’ve always been — lots of hair and eyes. A bit Raquel Welch-ish……I’m the queen in exile, locked away in a dungeon for 15 years
Sounds like the new season will add a whole new spin to parental abuse and show another side to the complex world of the visitors who have sinister intentions for us earthlings.
Catch V‘s new season this November…
