ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE To Continue Online

In a move that confirms a shift in the presentation of media via traditional means, fans who were vocal over the cancellation of the long running daytime soaps All My Children and One Life to Live, may now have to protest the need to upgrade their flat screens to Smart TV’s.

ABC has licensed the iconic soaps to Prospect Park,  a company founded by former Disney chiefs who have seen the potential in distributing the long running soaps and classic movies using the internet environment.  Prospect Park will produce and deliver the previously axed soaps via online formats, encompassing emerging platforms and internet enabled television sets.

From The Press release:

The licensing agreement, brokered by Disney/ABC Domestic Television Group, enables Prospect Park to continue production of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” beyond their life on ABC. Prospect Park will produce and deliver the two long-running programs to consumers via online formats and additional emerging platforms including internet enabled television sets. Under the terms of the arrangement, the programs will continue to be delivered with the same quality and in the same format and length. Additional details of the new productions and tune-in will be forthcoming from Prospect Park.

When news broke of the shows cancellation, not only did vacuum company Hoover pull it’s endorsement, some of it’s stars were being eyed by the popular long running soaps NBC’s ‘Days of Our Lives’ and CBS’s ‘The Young & the Restless’ which has remained the top-rated daytime drama for the past two decades. The final episode of ‘One Life to Live’ airs January, 2012 after 43 years on the airwaves.  ‘All My Children’ will conclude it’s 41-year TV run with the finale airing Friday, September 23rd and in the lead up, veteran actor Susan Lucci will be playing dual roles – Erica Kane and her doppelganger Jane Campbell “who will wreak havoc in Erica’s life in every possible way.”
