AMC Picks Up GOODFELLAS TV Series

Since October of 2010 there’s been talk of  a Goodfellas TV series – now the AMC network  is putting the series into development.  The film’s writer Nicholas Pileggi, and producer Irwin Winkler, along with son David Winkler, will executive produce with writer/producer Jorge Zamacona.

The classic 1990 film made Joe Pesci a screen sensation and his scenes have since become ingrained in many a movie fan’s mind – not to mention his ‘ball busting’ expressions. The original chronicled the rise and fall of Ray Liotta‘s character of Henry Hill who was enticed by the mobsters life and all it’s trapping. At this point it’s not known whether the show will be a total period drama, or who the story will focus on. Boardwalk Empire has continued to make mob story’s popular, though it’s unknown if Martin Scorsese would be interested in directing the pilot .
