Ronald D. Moore the man behind the once lauded ‘Battlestar Galactica’ reboot is assembling his cast for his newly written TV pilot 17th Precinct. Recently it was announced that Smallville alumna Kristin Kreuk will guest-star in the NBC supernatural drama which offers a magical spin on the typical police procedural.
The actress won’t be returning to help farewell the CW’s flagship show ‘Smallville’ and is clearly looking for new challenges and to avoid the problems of typecasting. The last series she joined for a small stint was on Chuck which proved to be a fun part, though for fans it didn’t last long enough.
In the new pilot the stunning 28 year old actress will be playing the role of Susan Longstreet, living in the fictional town of Excelsior, where the realm of magic and supernatural rule over science. She’ll play wife to former Battlestar alumna Jamie Bamber whose character is something of a crime scene expert. Also joining him from the sci-fi drama will be James Callis (Dr. Gaius Baltar) who’ll play a homicide detective and ‘Number Six’ hottie Tricia Helfer, as Morgana, the magical equivalent of a coroner. ‘Grease’ and ‘West Wing’ star Stockard Channing is on-board as is Matt Long (The Deep End) and Eamonn Walker (The Whole Truth).
It’s sound’s like quite a mystical and magical take on the traditional crime drama with characters having some kind of crafty power to assist them in solving the case. It will be interesting to see what Ronald D. Moore has come up with, but we’ll have to wait for the new pilot to air sometime in the new television season.
