She’ll probably always be known as Buffy, but Sarah Michelle Gellar has been pursued by the broadcast networks since the show ended in 2003. Now she’ll be returning to TV with a pilot drama, the first to be picked up this season by CBS.
The network has given the greenlight to ‘Ringer’, which is from ‘Supernatural’ writer-producers Eric Charmelo & Nicole Snyder. The show has significant backing and hails from ABC Studios, CBS TV Studios and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Written on spec, the story focuses on a troubled young woman (Gellar) who is on the run from the mob and assumes the identity of her wealthy twin. It turns out that the sister also has a bounty on her life which complicates things to no end.
Gellar most recently appeared in the 2009 HBO TV pilot ‘The Wonderful Maladys’. The star is also co-executive producing with the writers Charmelo and Snyder with Peter Traugott of Brillstein Entertainment serving as executive producer.
