The long running TV series The Simpsons was recently facing the prospect of cancellation with the Fox network reportedly asking the talented voice actors to take a significant pay cut so that the show could continue – citing it was not performing as well in the ratings and the once lucrative show was now costing too much too produce. Well that struggle has been resolved with the cast and producers signing new deals to make 2 more seasons of the animated series.
Fox was originally asking the cast to take a 45% salary reduction, reports say that the reduction was around 30% – they were originally getting $440,000 per episode. The license fee for the show was also trimmed to keep the show going, which for fans is good news – who knows if the ratings peak in the coming years, new deals may be in order.
New episodes of The Simpsons return Sunday, Oct. 30 with “Treehouse of Horrors XXII”.
