Michael Rosenbaum returned in a big way for the series finale of Smallville, with a performance that was truly fitting of his quintessential character which he left behind at the end of season 7. The stories had since shifted for obvious reasons, but with Rosenbaum’s return, the many plot threads were able to be brought full circle.
Plenty of viewers tuned in for the return of Lex, with viewership on the CW series up an impressive 49% from the last episode with 2.97 million tuning as well as a 63% spike in the 18-49 demographic. The finale also saw the transition of Clark Kent to Superman with Tom Welling finally donning the suit (in most part) with long shots revealing Superman in his entirety.
All up the finale had a lot going for it with great visuals and equally enjoyable performances, if you haven’t seen it yet – we won’t spoil the fun, but we can offer a cool interview with Lex Luthor himself, Michael Rosenbaum. It’s a compile of all the sound bites you might see in the other promos and Rosenbaum also shows off why he’s such a comic talent on the comedy Breaking In which is currently in cancellation limbo, so be sure to check out the remaining episodes as it may just get a second chance. It also explains why he donned a bald cap for his return, but in the final episode it was barely noticeable. When the video was shot Rosenbaum was having a blast shooting his scenes so check out Lex like you’ve never seen him before and go behind the scenes onthe Smallville finale.
